Kamban Kalvi Ramayanam Class

The purpose of organising this KAMBAN KALVI or KAMBAN COURSE is to enrich the knowledge of young people by introducing them to the great epic, the Ramayanam. Unless the younger generation understands the basics of the Ramayanam, they may not develop the interest or motivation to explore it further.

This course aims to educate and empower young people, as well as others who are unable to read or write Tamil, by teaching the lessons of the Ramayanam in English. Through this approach, participants will be encouraged to read and appreciate the original epic while gaining a deeper understanding of its underlying principles, ethics, and values.

With the objective of spreading knowledge of the Ramayanam, I have developed a basic structured study program. The course begins with an introduction to the epic and covers its major characters, comparisons with Valmiki Ramayanam and other versions of the Ramayanam, and its relevance to everyday life. The sixth section explains the six Kandams in detail, including the characters and their comparison with the Valmiki Ramayanam.

The course consists of six Kandams or chapters, designed as six levels of study. Participants who complete each level will receive a certificate, and those who successfully complete all six levels will be awarded a badge.

This course will guide children and other learners to understand the importance of studying great epics such as the Ramayanam. It will help enhance their knowledge, encourage further reading, and deepen their understanding of the ethical principles and positive values taught by the epic.
